The auto power on function does not work. I bought this for a basement window well that fills with water during very heavy rains and seeps into the basement. I bought it even though some reviewers said it doesn't turn on automatically. I put it down and waited for the big rain. The first came and the water rose high enough to completely submerge the device and the pump never turned on. The same thing happened with the next heavy rain about 2 months later. At that point it was too late to return it, so I contacted the company for a warranty replacement. They sent me instructions on how to clean the block (didn't help - it was new, not dirty or clogged) and said they would send me a new block. I got a new device, set it up and waited for the next heavy rain. After a few months we got a good one, it was long and heavy and completely covered the block again and this new one didn't turn on either. In short, don't buy this box if you need it for auto on/off functionality.
