I bought four of these after the first one arrived ready to shave and I've shaved with it for over a week. I sharpened it a bit on my Shapton 30k stone and it shaved even better so I bought three more for gifts. I have owned over a hundred straight razors and have been shaving straight for over 35 years so I have shaved many types of steel and different blade options and I can say from experience that the $10 GD1996 is the best gold dollar brand razor. I have ever shaved with this razor and you will find the best razor blade for under $80 or so. You will be satisfied with this purchase. I have to tell you that after reading some of the other reviews your razor arrives with a slight smile on the blade, trim it a bit and shave with it before doing anything else and then decide if you want to sharpen it. In some cases, a razor can shave reasonably well with a smile, so don't do anything until you've shaved with the razor a few times. All four razors I bought were flat, straight and sharp.
