This is actually a good razor for the price. Ignore any negative comments from razor snobs. These razors aren't perfectly ground and polished, and the acrylic handle is obviously underwhelming, but it keeps costs down. The acrylic handle is a bit flexible but strong and durable and easy to hold. A hollow-ground blade is good for beginners because hollow-ground blades are easy to sharpen and cut. I ordered this 1996 Gold Dollar expecting to get the 1996 Gold Dollar and that's exactly what I got. A blade that can be made to work very well with a little oil on the elbow. After unboxing I wiped off the silicone grease that was heavily coating it and proceeded to bevel the diamond plate to 1000 grit. I then sanded it down to 8000 grit and an end stone.
