I have a lot of experience with gold dollar razors. Your steel is pretty good. The build quality compared to the price is amazing. It's a decent shaver for the price. However, none of them were willing to shave, except for this one. I'm a big straight razor fan. I own dozens of classic and vintage straight razors. I have experience in sharpening and straightening. I've bought new razors (Gold Dollar and others) that were supposed to be "ready to shave" but they weren't. It really was this one. I only wish I could find a razor like this for such a low price when I started out. Experienced men with a razor will likely want to touch it up with a 12k stone or larger and then touch it up, but beginners can shave it right away. Well, at least they could have had it with what I have. Someone at the factory did a pretty good job sharpening this razor. My only caveat: are they ALL the same "ready to shave" as the ones I received? I can only tell you that I am incredibly impressed. Especially for the price.
