For the first time two days ago. I am very glad that I bought this vise. Used them to hold a couple of jumbo knives while I re-edged them. Not the slightest trace of a scratch and they survived with no sign of uneven pressure. Held in place by two magnets each, these liners were just what was needed to hold each blade securely yet securely, meaning I could focus on profile cutting with both hands. I used to hold knives individually with one hand, rest the spine of the blade on my knee and shape the blade with the other hand. So far this has been the best worst case scenario. Not very secure and not very effective because no matter how hard I tried, I always downloaded the profiler. But now: Ta-daaaa! I have way better profiles! Yes! And I'm much less likely to cut myself doing it. Yeah! I originally intended to use them to hold the top of parallel sided slides. The rear areas should be stabilized during movement. Haven't gotten to that yet, but they're great for holding knife blades. Thank you, Bessie, whoever you are. :). Good vise inserts.
