Bacterial levels beginning to recover

I have had two perfectly working tanks, one with few fish and the other empty (I run my tanks on ammonia rather than risking the lives of my fish). Then I went online like an idiot and bought too many fish to save about $40 on overnight delivery. Well that was far more than my bacteria levels could handle in my recently cycled tanks and I've been struggling with high ammonia/ammonium levels ever since. I've used Seachem Stability with no effect, but it actually reduced the amount of ammonia significantly (I use 15ml after every water change in a 29 gallon tank). I'm starting to see nitrite so my tanks look like they're finally being recycled again. I'm on my second bottle - I change the water weekly so I can get over it quickly - it's not a 'once use and it's set' product but it's starting to help and it's a huge relief - I feel like it is the end is imminent corner. As a reminder, if you have high ammonia levels you will need to add Seachem Prime every 48 hours as it converts toxic ammonia into non-toxic ammonium but only for 2 days. Most test kits measure total ammonia. Although Prime works, you won't notice a drop in ammonia levels unless you've been using this material for quite some time. If you want to test it there are other ammonia testers that show both toxic ammonia and non-toxic ammonium so I may have 8ppm (a HUGE ammonia spike) but for now I'm using Prime until it comes to town, I found everything non-toxic ammonium. So be aware that your test cases may not show you the real story. As soon as you see ammonia converting back to nitrite, you know this material is starting to recycle your aquarium with no risk to your fish. It just takes many uses to generate these bacteria.
