I have used it in a hot and humid jungle in light rain and it has worked well. Like a poncho, it lets in a lot of air compared to a raincoat, which would be unbearable in a sauna. It fits in a reasonably sized backpack and will keep you dry. I don't know how it will behave in the event of a prolonged or heavy downpour. The seams, corners and side buttons are well reinforced and the material is a lightweight but not flimsy nylon ripstop fabric; It should hold up much better than a plastic poncho. Comes with a right size carry case. Despite packing it in my bag a bit damp, the poncho didn't smell much when I aired it out a week later.
