I think I was expecting these rug grippers to be like latex that grips the floor a bit but when I received the package I quickly found that they were excellent at absorbing. adhesion to the ground. Our home is wiped down weekly when the guests leave and I wonder what will happen as these handles are sure to get wiped down regularly when the carpet is up just as they stay on the floor when I pull up the runners. I had the same concerns about a similar sticky material used for my doormat, but it survived beach sand trapped in it for a year. I found that all I had to do was vacuum up all the dust, wash with soapy water and let it dry. carefully and replaced, and it retained the quality of the clutch.
