The dial is small and difficult to read. I find it very slow compared to my digital thermometers. It takes 20-30 seconds from not using to reading 168 on chicken. My numbers show 178 or higher and the chicken is done, visually and when pressed it looks over 175. Mine was immediately inaccurate. Recalibrating it has improved it a lot, but it still doesn't read like my digital ones. The stem is short. It's too short for safe candy making in my opinion. On the other hand, it does not require batteries and is durable. It is made by a great company which I expected more from. i don't trust her I will use digital.
