Prior to using this lens, from near focal lengths, I utilized affordable "portrait lenses" from Canon. These included the 50mm f/1.8 (plastic for 4,000), the 50mm f/1.4 (worse only f/1.8), and the again the 50mm f1.8 STM, which was straight handsome and cost 6,000. Putting a fifty-kopeck piece into a bag has never been an issue for me despite the fact that my primary glass is a 70-200mm reporter. Now, whenever I go on a walk, I always have to decide whether to bring a telephoto lens or a 35-ku lens; yet, since both lenses have to be carried, the experience is still enjoyable:( Pick one of these two options: Sigma or this. The year spent developing was a deciding factor. In spite of this, technological advancements are being made at a breakneck pace, and if my memory serves me well, Sigma was introduced in the year 2022. Glass is an amazing material! Before then, the fifty kopecks 1.4 from Canon weaned photographers off of shooting at apertures wider than 2.8 due to the presence of soapy detergent. At 1.8, Tamron has little trouble achieving its maximum level of sharpness. and possibly up to 1.4 in cases when there is less movement. There are a few shots that didn't come out quite right, but those are more due to the fact that the 5D Mark II has a less than stellar autofocus system. In most cases, I suggest going with glass.
