AT-HAIHAN DOT Compatible Waterproof LED Surface Lights: good solid lights with aluminum base plate. Beautifully made with clean finish and casting. Comes with zinc plated mounting bolts and nuts. Requires two end mounting holes and a larger 1/2" center hole for cable routing (easily accomplished with an inexpensive Harbor Freight step drill). All LEDs illuminate in both tail mode and brake/rotation modes. Design dissipates intense heat from light ones LED bulbs down to extend life - they run cool.The molded plastic lens is quite thick and should take a good hit without cracking.The shape of the lens makes the light noticeably brighter from behind but the lights are from still clearly visible to the side. However they lack the special 90 degree side light often found on trailer lights to alert passing vehicles that there is an unexpected trailer hanging there. I would definitely give the trailers a separate, add special headlight sidelight if you use them as taillights (these lights also make great sidelights by the way) all leds light up i n both cases and in the very bright taillight mode. Often LED taillights leave the 4 or so end LEDs unlit in tail mode and the rest of the LEDs are fed through a larger resistor to reduce the voltage/intensity a bit; In braking mode, all LEDs light up through a smaller resistor to make all LEDs brighter. The simplified design of this model works great and is DOT approved, but I would expect the tractor's traditional brake/turn signals to still play a role in brake/turn situations. .
