Review on Fozzils Snapfold Bowlz Set (2-piece Bowl) by Shaun Bushey

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Unreliable: Thoughtful design but cheap clasps are very fragile

I bought a set of 2, one of which had one of the clasps either broken in transit or passed quality control. This indicates either poor quality control or that the material used for the clasps is quite brittle or in any case not very strong. One in two defective shells has a 50% failure rate. If even one of the four latches breaks or otherwise doesn't work, you can't use it as a bowl, but you can definitely use it as a light cutting board. (or you can just use a lightweight cutting board with no broken latch and avoid disappointment). A broken bowl can be used for other purposes - for example as a frisbee. This is of course a very clever design - they patented it. But it ends up with poor construction using cheap materials and/or no quality assurance by the factory in China where it is made. So you don't want to put shells in a remote/survival situation or be left without a backup. Too bad they didn't test them a little more and invest in quality control. If you insist on using it, I'd suggest you buy a few, have a backup, and double-check your recordings before hitting the road so you're not stuck with a useless piece of plastic. Perhaps suitable as a play item for children or as an expensive disposable item. I wish I could be more positive, but with a 50% rejection rate it would be inappropriate to recommend this article. I hope they release version 2 and get it right! Trust me, it's helpful!
