Sturdy enough but frustrating to install and the design cuts corners

It seems strong enough, but some of the design choices they made are disappointing and result in this being annoying to install. As you can see from the photos, the bolt slides through two retaining lugs instead of a single piece, but you can't remove the bolt during installation because each lug has a tiny metal flat-spring (so that the bolt doesn't rattle around when in use) that's held in place by the pressure of the bolt resting against it - remove the bolt and those flat-springs fall out. What this means is that you have to install this thing with the bolt mounted in the two lugs the whole time, which makes it a lot trickier to line everything up.Also, after sliding the bolt back and forth literally once, I now have an unslightly line of exposed metal, presumably caused by those flat-springs. So, this isn't "oil-rubbed bronze" in the sense you might be thinking. I'm guessing it's just spray paint.

Pros
  • Very nice 30 sliding bolt that’s what I wanted. Simple but very nice
Cons
  • The bolt rattles loosely and does not stay in place
