Doesn't take up much counter space. Heavy enough and properly balanced to accommodate very large rolls. The hand holds the reel until it is about 2/3 used, at which point the hand no longer holds the reel. I want it to last until the roll runs out, but that's why it doesn't give a star rating, and here's why. I suspect that if the arm "hugs" the roll until it's empty, the pressure would be too great for cheap paper towels and would likely cause the towel to tear, but not at the seam where it needs to. We use Sam's and Costco brands which are average travel towels in my opinion. I cannot confirm the durability of this item as I have not had it for more than two weeks but it appears to be very well constructed. We are very happy with this purchase. That's more than I ever thought I could say about a paper towel holder. Wow!
