I have been using this product since June 2016. I have enjoyed it so much that I have included it in my normal hair care routine. The outer shell that houses the handle is made of hard plastic. The bristles are made of soft and flexible silicone. I use this massager both while shampooing and on dry hair for a simple scalp massage about once a day. The massager is powered by 1 AA battery. Pros: It feels comfortable in the hand, is waterproof so it's safe to use in the shower, it increases blood flow to the hair follicles, promotes relaxation and helps to remove dead skin from the scalp. It is safe to use this product with oils on the scalp. Finally, the massager does not make a loud noise when it vibrates. Cons: Requires batteries, to insert the battery you have to unscrew the cap; I couldn't find my screwdriver so after it arrived it sat for a whole day until I found the screwdriver. The vibrations will make your hand go numb after a while while you hold it. The bristles tend to change color when using dark colored hair products. Tips: 1) Be careful when using, even the bristles are soft, don't press too hard, otherwise you may damage the hair stands and scalp. 2) Don't do it. Do not overdo the massage - it is recommended to massage the scalp 1-2 times a day for up to 3 minutes. 3) Buy batteries. I use this daily and have been using the same battery for 6 months now. 4) After using this product with dark colored products I recommend washing the bristles with soap and water to remove the color and avoid staining. *** I hope you found this review helpful - THANKS for reading! ****
