This is the second Macally phone stand I have bought. The first was a 12-inch tablet mount that worked well, but wasn't exactly perfect. Whether you can securely attach the base to your cup holder depends on the design of your cup holder. I was able to tighten it tight enough. in my F-150, although it has spring-loaded wings on the inside that hold the cups securely. Take the time to ensure the flex arm dictates how and where you want your device to be available to you. Draft. The longer the shackle, the more vibration it is exposed to while driving. It's best to buy the shortest strap to position the phone where you need it. The 4" arm is a bit short for me (not long enough for the right curve/angle) and the 8" arm is a bit long (too long for the right curve/angle). A 6-inch would be ideal (insert here Michael Scott jokes) but Macally isn't that size. So because I had to bend the arm outwards and then inwards again to "take advantage of the slack", it is subject to slightly more vibration and distance traveled laterally in vibration than the smaller arm. All in all though, this is an inexpensive yet effective solution to putting your phone down while driving. If you want a design that doesn't vibrate, check out the vent mounts. However, they have their own problems, e.g. B. they strain the ventilation structure and block airflow if you live in a warmer climate. Everything in life is a compromise. and the 8 inch arm is a bit too long (too long for the right curve/angle). A 6" would be perfect (insert a Michael Scott joke here) but Macally doesn't make that size. So since I had to bend my arm outward and then back in to "take advantage of the slack", is it's a bit more exposed to vibration and the distance traveled laterally in vibration than the smaller arm, but all in all this is an inexpensive yet effective solution for putting your phone down while driving - if you want a design that doesn't vibrate, see Take a look at the vent mounts, but they come with their own issues, such as they strain the ventilation structure and block airflow if you live in a warmer climate.
