This is a great product.

Six years ago we had our bucket painted by a "professional" and had problems with the paint peeling off from the start. Over the years I've used $20 bathroom repair kits available at Home Depot to touch up loose stains. I applied it with a brush and it looked lousy, but when the company came along we sanded and painted the bald spots and hoped they wouldn't notice. We ended up getting tired of looking at it and decided to just replace the tub and surrounding tiled walls. The first offer we received was $5,000! At first we wanted to do it ourselves, but then we decided we didn't need the expense and mess of a rebuild, so I would do the work ourselves. We kept weighing that option against buying another $20 kit and repainting, but we just got sick of it. That's when I discovered Ekopel 2K. I have a lot of experience with epoxy and I know how durable it is. We decided to order a kit and give it one more try before blowing up the whole damn bathroom. The first step was to remove all of the old paint, and many of these were easily removed with single-edged blades. I found the best trick was to hold the blade in a vise with pliers and poke it out that way. I could shoot most of it in an hour or so. I had to use paint stripper on the spots where I touched up the paint with $20 kits, but it wasn't too bad. I cleaned the tub and used the recommended Lysol acid toilet cleaner. From the video the Lysol is supposed to etch the surface of the tub but it still looked shiny to me and I was worried the epoxy wouldn't bite off so I used a sander and went over the whole tub. take some of the shine. Maybe I didn't have to do it, but I had the time and the tools, so I did it. All of this paint removal and preparation took about three hours. The YouTube videos provided by vendor Refinished Bath Solutions were extremely helpful and I watched the application part at least 3 times. I followed this method as best I could for the first time and it worked very well. I was worried there wouldn't be enough material to work with, but it turned out I had almost 1-1/2 jars left, and I even anointed the soap dish. I think it took about 1-1/2 hours after opening the can. The biggest problem was working with the drain. One problem was that the toilet got in the way so I had to reach over to scoop out the epoxy. I kept hitting the edge of the tub with my hand and had to reapply in that area. As the material solidified, I continued digging material out of the drain. About 6 hours after launching the app, I removed the drain cap. Some material has migrated to the drain flange, which I removed with a razor blade the next morning and messed things up a bit there. A pro tip: use knee pads, even if you're buying a cheap pair. It's also worth noting that the paint came with no instructions at all. At the last minute I found the Ekopel 2K data sheet provided by the manufacturer Pabrec, which contains important information not mentioned in the videos. I am very happy with this product and am confident that the cover will outlive me and my wife.
