26 June 2019 UPDATE:My 17 pound dog threw up on edge of my bed. The protector did pretty well, but there was leakage at the seam. Luckily, I was awake so I immediately jumped up and stripped the bed. I went online to see best method to clean the stain and it DID come out. Don’t think there is a true waterproof protector, unless you use the nasty vinyl, but at least there is SOME protection. If I had not been awake, though, think it would have been a much larger stain and possibly set in, and deeper into the mattress. Will be adding a mattress pad on top of the protector.I bought these PlushDeluxe Premium Zippered Mattress Protectors for my TempurPedic beds, that are on adjustable frames. The mattresses are approximately 12.75 inches, and there is a lot of room (I could have used a smaller size). They have lots of stretch which you do need for adjustable bed. My dog had a urine accident and it protected my mattress, no moisture went through it at all. The surface is relatively soft, but I don’t really care for the terry cloth. My only issue is I’m a hot sleeper, so struggling a bit with that. I recommend this item for protecting mattresses. I use cold water, mild detergent and wash on delicate. I then rearrange and do a spin on low setting. I also dry on low. And, as noted earlier, it is not too tight on the mattress, so no overstretching of fibers or seams.
