I am very disappointed in this purchase. I wanted a magnetic phone holder mainly for travel but also for everyday use. Although I rarely use my cell phone in the car. Anyway, I have so many problems with this item. First, I would call it unregulated. DO NOT fiddle with the knob thinking you can adapt it to another cup holder or car. As soon as he got out, he got out. We will not return. That was my first mistake, but the manual doesn't warn against it. So now I have a cup holder that is too big for the cup holder in my car. It's okay because it's a bit soft, so I just put it in my cup holder. But that's not my only disappointment. The parts that expand to fit the cup holder are on TWO SIDES of this thing. And not the front where the phone goes and makes the whole thing heavier. So. As I direct its weight, the phone pulls the holder down into a slot in the front, and the whole thing tilts back and forth. I have to keep readjusting as the shifter sits right in front of this bracket. One last small problem. The metal plate and magnet are not strong enough to hold in my very thin phone case. I simply put a metal plate on top of the phone's body, not inside it. Not a big deal but I was hoping it would hold my phone well enough without the large panel on the outside of my case. What I really like and the only thing I like is that it holds my phone very well with the plate on the outside of the case. So when I'm walking over bumps and the like, the phone doesn't feel like it's going to fall.
