I installed this burner in my Dell Dimension with no problems. Now it fills the slot where my DVD drive used to be. I used the DVD so seldom that it seemed more practical to replace it with a CD burner. I also needed the ability to play CD-Rs on my machine, which the Yamaha does very well. I also have an external Yamaha SCSI CD burner that was connected to my Mac. Installation was very easy and took fifteen minutes. The only downside I've noticed so far is that the device gets a bit noisy, like a small jet engine when it goes into high-speed mode. I think this is fairly typical for high speed drives and deserves only a small mention. My kit also included the Neato CD Labeler software and some labels. Although I have not used this product yet, I look forward to comparing it to other CD labeling products (CD Stomper, Memorex) I have used in the past. CD for a friend with 2100EZ with Easy CD Creator 4.05. I finally made my first coaster! I keep getting "buffer underrun" messages, which Yamaha says shouldn't happen on this model. Unfortunately, one solution is to slow down the write speed, which defeats the purpose of switching to a faster capture device now, right? I need to do some setup as I'm not sure if it's hardware or software. All I know is that I had no problems with my previous CD-R software and now I'm wondering if it really was an upgrade or not.
