This mat comes in a box as shown in the picture. The old worn seal was removed. Before installing a new gasket, all deposits were removed with a vacuum cleaner. The pad could easily be replaced with the same screws. I haven't had any breakages as others with screws have pointed out. I guarantee that the screws were tightened after assembly. The material of the old and new pads were compared (realizing that the old pad was badly worn) and they were visually identical in material and thickness of both the pad and the backing plate. Both carrier plates were made of transparent plastic. Since then I've used this sander several times with no problems, with the plastic backing breaking or the sandpaper not sticking. I recommend without hesitation.
