I used the GPS mainly for driving and finding addresses. Garmin EMAP deluxe is just right for this purpose and does it very well! If you want to find specific addresses, you must first get a subway guide CD and load detailed map information into your GPS. Otherwise there are only main roads and motorways. You won't get lost, but if the house you're looking for is on a local road, you won't find it. You need a data cartridge to store detailed maps. Emap Deluxe comes with an 8MB cartridge. 8MB is enough, although I think it should have been 16MB. You also need a PC interface cable, which is also included in the scope of delivery of emap deluxe. 8MB contains detailed maps within a radius of about 25-30 miles. If you're traveling across the States, bring your laptop and CD. The screen is large enough so that you don't have to laboriously scroll. The display is clear, and the backlight is very pleasant, the contrast is not lost. You can look at an object in complete darkness and see the map very well. This gadget is beautiful to look at and very entertaining, meaning you won't be disappointed in terms of value (price is another matter). If you drive a lot and often get lost, or if you want to find shortcuts when stuck in traffic, it's definitely worth it. Also note that subway guide CDs are chargeable (additional cost).
