Excellent surge protector AND the only one advertised as "flame retardant (metal oxide varistor encapsulated in ceramic)". burned a significant hole in the carpet and filled our home office with acrid smoke! Luckily we were home at the time and were able to quickly put out the fire. These Echogears also feature high joules, a light to alert you when your joules are depleted and your electronics are out of surge protection, and sliding tabs to cover unused outlets (helps keep dust out of outlets...another potential fire hazard) . PS We have now placed our 4 new surge protectors on our marble window sills and no longer on a surface that could catch fire. I highly recommend buying marble or ceramic tiles to place under a surge protector if you have one on your carpeted floor.
