I bought this mattress pad to cushion a very hard mattress. I opened the box and took it out of the plastic wrap. I let it breathe and expand for 3 days before putting it on the bed (the instructions say 48 hours. I had high hopes that this topper would help me sleep well as a friend recommended a 2" foam -Topper with memory..on a similar mattress and reported a marked improvement. Instead, I woke up with sore hips. Then I tried to figure out why my new topper wasn't working. So I compared two pads. At first I found that the two pads were very different densities. new the pad was much lighter and easier to compress. Second, I found the new pad wasn't really 2" thick. It was 1 1/4" thick with 3/4" ridges as they crush very easily. This pillow is too thin to be soft on a hard mattress. I strongly advise you not to purchase this pad and I will try to return it. Please note Make sure the title says "Free Returns" but the fine print says that the item must be in new and unused condition. This is not possible as the topper comes compressed in a small box and cannot be repackaged.
