Review on IDEAL 61 521 Phase Rotation Tester by William Hood

In over forty years of experience I have used many three phase and phase sequence testers but none have been as practical and complete as this one. The need to reverse and reconnect the gauge to rotate the motor, which is used on de-energized motor connections to obtain correct mechanical rotation of the motor shaft, helps to avoid connecting the gauge to a live circuit. I use phase tapes in the same color as the measurement probes for the linear and motor circuits. So when I connect the motor, I just adjust the colors. I have used this on alternators, parallel switchboards and turbochargers where improper electrical or mechanical rotation will lead to disastrous results. It is easy to use and delivers positive results. Be sure to read the instructions clearly printed on the front of the tester.
