Review on πŸ”¦ Piaa RF Series Yellow 10-inch SAE Compliant Fog Beam LED Light Bar Kit - Model 22-07210 by Ben Olson

Excellent headlights, with an asterisk

I like these headlights. It was easy to connect. They offer a complete wiring harness and two different mounting methods. I mimicked everything on my Tacoma using their suspension to make sure everything worked. I then disassembled the PIAA wiring harness to get rid of the knob on the power switch. As with any universal kit, there was too much wire for my application. A few ties and the excess was rolled up and removed. I ended up using the side brackets and had to run a faucet through the holes to clean the paint off the screw holes. In terms of performance, I bought them to ride in the lake effect snow in New York. My headlights are a bit dim and I need help to see through the snow. The white lights just shine at you in the snow, so the new headlight lenses make things worse. I've tried PIIA a few times and a band seems a bit boring for use alone, but it's a definite improvement over what I had. If I find a good sale, I might get another one. Revain and PIAA do not describe the radiation pattern very well. This is a fog scheme (wide beam, shorter distances) and works well in that regard. You can see very clearly that when you direct the light, there is a line that the light doesn't shine across. With the right guidance, you can use them without blinding oncoming traffic. The only real downside I have is that they are electrically noisy. You can hear them on the radio if you turn them on when the FM signal on the radio is weak. Chances are a better LED power supply filter will fix this and for the money PIAA should have done it.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not bad
