The battery lasted about a month of use and for about a month the device worked amazingly well. It was magical to have a calm dog! The sound didn't seem to hurt his ears, he just went quiet and looked at it when he turned it on, then didn't bark most of the time. After about a month, however, he suddenly forgot. I thought maybe the batteries were too low and he died shortly after, but I've now replaced the batteries and he still had a few bouts of barking which didn't bother this device at all.
