I have two male puppies and have tried time and time again to get them to go potty on a mat with this product. The boys tried to lick and EAT the spot where I squirted! This in no way motivated her to make pottery on the mat. I read other negative reviews but thought it was worth a try as all dogs are different. Well, both my boys don't agree with that. Although I managed to get her potty trained. Today they are only 4 months old and they run to the potty themselves to go potty! I can't even remember the last time they had an accident. If you need advice, here's what we did: 1) Purchased practice clickers and clicked every time they went potty successfully. 2) Praise them with words and treats, as well as a click when they successfully potty on a pillow. 3) We used washcloths (men's diapers) to avoid accidents. 4) NEVER scold them if they have an accident because that will only scare them to potty next to you and they will potty in remote places which would be very bad.
