Review on Enkay - Premium πŸ”΅ Extra-Fine Blue All-Purpose Polishing Compound (1Lb) by Chris Morales

Cheap, effective, albeit dry.

As of the current year 2017, this material costs well under $1 an ounce, almost the same price I paid in April 2014. I see a lot of complaints here about this blue blush (heh) being very dry, crumbly and more difficult to work with than real jewel blush. I totally agree with these dissenters on these specific properties of this compound; anyway, one might wonder how it differs from Enkay's own oily jewelry blush and green stainless steel polishes (as well as Woodstock and a few others). Perhaps the fact that it is so dry, hard, brittle and friable can shed some light on how this compound differs. I came up with this after some searching and research on the internet. Essentially, to apply this to a buffing wheel, you must spin the wheel quickly and press hard enough to create friction to melt it, or slightly preheat/melt it before applying it to the circle. It's definitely a lot harder to apply than the other sticks I have, but it's worth it. This composition av gives a very high shine, like a real jeweler's blush, but it works well on plastic and even on fairly hard stainless steel. The main reason I bought this wand a little over 3 years ago was to have an inexpensive, extremely fine polishing paste that I could apply to the side of my 4-stroke Stropman sling to finish my knives. I have to press hard and rub vigorously to apply this substance to my leather belt. A word of caution about sharpening knives: some steels like S30V don't seem to polish very well (this polish also polishes, but the S30V seems to be duller with this polish). This blend works very well on most of my stainless steel knives and provides a polish that is superior to Spyderco's ultra fine ceramic stones and 12,000 mesh belts. This blend is really excellent on VG-10, Elmax, Sandvik and other stainless steels that benefit from very high edge polishing degree. PS I may also suggest grinding this compound into a powder and applying it to a microfiber cloth for various polishing tasks.
