I used to have a BLACK back massager anyway. I recently moved back to the US so I didn't take it because it had a different plug. This device is much nicer. I bought it on a whim, wondering if I would like the color. It was well packed. And all I can say is that it looks so much better than black (now I think black is like an old college couch with too many guys sitting on it). In any case, it is thinner and looks more modern. It's flatter than the other one I've had so it's easier to slip behind a sofa or under a bed, which is a good option. Operation: It's very similar to the house brand pad I've had in the past, only flatter (for some reason it's more comfortable to lay back without the bulge) and it offers more options. It has: 1. Vibration in the seat that you can turn on or off2. Soft cover that can be folded over the head/neck rolls. I like this a lot as it makes kneading a bit softer. I haven't used it too much, but I think I'll try using a towel to soften the rolling (I did the same on my old one). . In doing so, it does low-medium-high settings, which seem to work well. After all, whatever the material, it's really soft and almost skin-warm on the outside and on soft surfaces. Not leather but some kind of fabric that feels nice and looks modern. I don't know why clothes aren't made from this material. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and will buy again. I "worked" from home a lot and often had upper back pain. This device really helps. In addition, it has a HEAT function that will come in very handy during the colder months. Will update when I have more thoughts.
