Review on Essential Fun Speaking Spell Electronic Device by Lonnie Batch

We bought this item and gave it as a Christmas gift. A little over a month after purchase and to be honest the sound went from normal to very very quiet after a few uses. We changed the batteries and nothing changed. We have a Speak N Math that we used from Goodwill, a Texas Instruments original in the 80's. It still works great even after being dropped a few times by small children. Comparing them side-by-side the overall look of the new one seems very similar, although the readable screen looks cheaper on the new one. The new one is very light compared to the solid, sturdy feel of the old one. This new Speak N Spell was made in China. I am now making a concerted effort NOT TO BUY ANYTHING FROM CHINA. I would love to return it but I just missed the deadline so I lost $25.
