Adjusting the slats

The door was easy to assemble and easy to install. I primed all the components before assembly. This door was going to be used outside. Once assembled the door is very sturdy. The only thing that I would suggest would be to make one upper slat and one lower slat a little bit wider so that it can be trimmed during assembly. If you tap together all the tongue and groove of the slats there will be a gap between the outer frame and the slats. The tongue and groove of slats should not be tapped together all the way because this will lead to the gap by the outer frame. Instead, you need to adjust each slat to eliminate the gap by the outer frame. That is why one upper and one lower slat needs to be a little wider so each slat can be tapped to seat each tongue and groove and the final slat can be trimmed to fit.
