I haven't tried the app yet because. It comes with a remote control! Also, the website description doesn't state that the app does anything that I wouldn't really consider removing. My overall satisfaction with using the product with just the remote control leaves a lot to be desired. I prefer the cheaper bias lighting kit I bought a while ago which comes with an RF remote and no mic. I found the mic options useless for TV shows and movies, which would be nice if there was a repeatable multicolor fade setting. After the second day of using a device plugged into the appropriate USB port on the TV, the lights now flash white whenever the TV is turned on and do not respond to the remote for a few minutes. I've tried performing the reset by pressing and holding the button on the button but that just stops the lights from flashing but doesn't let me use the remote or change the colors.
