Review on Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens - Compatible with Canon DSLR Cameras (Lens Only) by Adhe Agung ᠌

The product is working, I will not repeat it for sure.

The lens is pretty good for shooting video on a cropped carcass. At a constant aperture, you can zoom without aperture jumps. Focal lenses are quite comfortable - from wide to portrait lens. But as soon as you start using it in a photo, all the advantages disappear. There is almost no sharpness - landscape painters are likely to be upset. The trunk, when shooting from top to bottom, falls out by itself (after a month of use). Dissuaded a friend, but then he was still bred in the store to buy. From analogues for crop, I can compare with Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 Macro. The sharpness is one and a half times higher. Although the same plastic, but the trunk, even after 4 months of use, went as expected. Yes, the inconstant aperture ratio is not suitable for everyone for video (although I personally don’t use zoom in video). But the focal range is wider, the sharpness is higher and the price is almost three times lower. Moreover, in the kit there is a hood. If you ever plan to switch to a full frame in the future, then go for the 24-105 f/4L. It costs less than this cropped 17-55, the build quality is higher, sharpness is at the level, constant aperture, a hood with a case is included. For the rest, it is better to take an additional Samyang width.

Pros
  • + Good focal range for everyday shooting +Constant aperture + The presence of a stabilizer
Cons
  • - Pretty soft at all focal lengths. Ringing sharpness is not achieved -The trunk quickly loosened up and began to fall out on its own -For such money they did not bother to equip with a hood and a cover -Price for crop
