Review on πŸ§— Rothco 550lb. Type III Nylon Paracord: Durable and Strong Survival Gear by Craig Lovro

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than expected!

Let me start this review by saying that there should be differences in the product delivered. The cord I received looked exactly like the photo, but didn't have GI Plus written on it, it was actually marked Rothco Nylon Paracord, 550 Type III Commercial. It doesn't say "mil-spec", but it does say 550 lb Test 7 Strand made by "US Government Certified Contractor". So I'm not complaining, maybe I actually got a slightly better product, or maybe the product is exactly the same just from different production runs and/or surplus (this wasn't part of the government order) is labeled differently (this is my guess, and it is exactly the same material). Other products that are overused under government contracts are sold under slightly different labels. Regardless of the product I received. It's better than I expected as I can't tell it apart from the real OD 550 I've used in the past. The ends don't fray and there's no loss of length, which another reviewer unfortunately found on their product. I haven't tested it for breaking strength, but so far it has performed as I expected. I've used it to tie down a tarp in inclement weather, tie and haul cable, and tie down photography gear. I will be ordering more, the price is great and I love how it comes in sealed packaging. Which brings me to my next point - the versatility of this product. I don't consider myself a 'survivor' but I like to be prepared and have a stock of appropriate supplies in the car, around the house etc. Having one of these in the car or truck just makes sense, it's durable and tough and water resistant. Like a roll of duct tape, this 550 has an almost endless number of uses. Many know it, but for those who don't know, the cord can be untied and the inner threads used individually for small tasks. Your creativity is the limit. Hope this helps and if you are reading this. Please take a moment to leave a comment about some of your favorite uses of the 550!
