Item 1 below focuses on Windows 10's S mode. I didn't plan to write that much about S mode, but I did, and that's why you should think about it. The rest of the comments relate to the Asus laptop itself. 1.) I think Windows 10 S mode is excellent. The more I use it, the more I like it. {I've been using S mode on other devices for about 8 months.) You can exit S mode easily, but what I'm saying is that it's a really underrated OS. It practically blocks malware, period. You can't tell if the laptop is in S mode unless you try to install something other than the Windows Store. If you are not a gamer or you do not need any special program, you should consider S mode, which can save you many worries of being hacked by hackers, which has become a more and more serious problem lately, especially with the increasing one Sophistication of attacks by nation states and organized crime. Yes, I'm a techie with the opposite opinion of the trade press. They seem to mostly berate Windows 10's S mode, but rarely talk about the benefits of S mode. I think Microsoft should promote the operating system better. I don't understand why they don't do that. I upgraded from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro through the Windows Store. Then, as an administrator, I connected this device to Intune Office 365. I understand that the tech world seems to underestimate Windows 10 S mode, but I don't and I think it's excellent. Also, S mode requires far fewer Windows updates than regular Windows, so I'm a fan of that again. As an administrator, I don't have to worry that much about updates. This operating system is really hard to compromise. 2.) This laptop offers excellent value for money. It is equipped with an Intel i3 processor, 8 GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD hard drive. In fact, this is the ideal configuration for the average business or university user. The performance is excellent for the equipment. The Intel i3 chip is way better than most people think. It also works well when streaming videos. 3.) The display is suitable for business use. If you're a gamer or watch a lot of videos, this will probably disappoint you a bit, as good displays are expensive. Normally you don't get anything for free. Again, the display is true to what it is. While the viewing angles are narrow, I've seen other reviewers' comments about the display and found their comments overblown, and I wonder what they expect from a sub-$500 laptop. Let me add that I have worked on many PCs over the years and I can tell you that this display is good but not perfect. However, like I said, if you want a premium display, you'll have to pay for it. Again, this display is good enough for general use. 4.) The ports provided are the latest version of each type provided. Again, this laptop offers excellent value for money. 5.) The backlit keyboard is really good. I love the feel of the keys and I love the number pad. The keyboard is quiet and comfortable to type on. 6.) Laptop bag/frame. Plastic. Looks damn good considering the price of the device. However, I'm not sure how strong the case will be if the laptop is dropped. I'm not reviewing this laptop because I'll have to pay if I break it, but then again, for the price of this laptop, you get one hell of a device for the price. CONCLUSION: A surprisingly great laptop for a paid price under $500 that will be appreciated by the average or average user. (Suggestion: keep your device in S mode, remove malware and update headaches.)
