Blu-ray ripping was my main concern when purchasing this disc and I was not disappointed. So far, I've copied about 8 Blu-ray discs that I own using MakeMKV. The drive is connected to my laptop via a SATA to USB adapter. I don't usually buy LG products, but the two Asus Blu-Ray drives I bought for my purpose failed after one drive at a time. I'm not sure if Asus drives were riplock restricted, but other reviews I've read say this LG drive is not riplock restricted. Read speeds on USB 2.0 are decent, typically around 7x when reading and copying drives. I have not attempted to burn discs with this drive and have no intention of doing so in the future.
