Review on New Nikon 18-105mm Vibration Reduction πŸ“· Zoom Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLRs by Kenji Viray Tsuchida ᠌

Average purchase, there is something to complain about.

There are wonderful photos on the Internet taken with such a lens, but apparently I came across an unsuccessful copy. An ordinary, not outstanding lens, and not cheap. Since this is almost a 6x zoom, you should not expect aperture from it, so I did not indicate the aperture in the shortcomings. Plastic mount - here to each his own. I accept it as it is. I got it in a kit with the D7000. Year tried to make friends with him. It didn't work out. Photos at the soapy level. No sharpness, no color reproduction. RAW partially saves. I exchanged it for a high-aperture fix. It is a pity to part with such focal lengths, but the lost and spoiled moments cannot be returned. I had lenses 70-210mm (sold) and 70-300mm (I hardly use them). It is better to buy a carcass + something fast. There are great inexpensive options. After some time, anyway, you will understand the power of aperture ratio (pun intended) and 18-105 will already seem like a child's toy. In extreme cases, take a BU 18-55 or a kit with an 18-55 lens. Enough to study. But there will be no overpaid hard-earned money. Pay attention here: Nikon 50mm f/1.8D(or G) Nikon 50mm f / 1.4D (or G) is already more expensive Nikon 35mm f / 1.8G (it's a pleasure to shoot like this in museums, churches, an aquarium) Nikon 35mm f/2D D or G versions here, choose according to your carcass. it can be cheap and cheerful, but here is a lottery: Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F / 2.8 (I took it for myself for travel) or Tamron SP AF 28-75mm F / 2.8. Tamron for an amateur. In the end, everything returns to Nikon or Sigma, but more expensive.

Pros
  • Universal set of focal lengths. Stabilizer. Fixed front lens. Quiet. Nothing moves under its own weight. Light.
Cons
  • Specifically for my copy, I soaped it and did not always get into focus. Color rendition.
