I have resubmitted my updated review as Amazon disallowed my first submission. These are my first premium headphones and I've used other regular in-ear headphones before. I've been using these headphones for a week now and below is my detailed review of how these headphones are performing so far. β’ The packaging is simple and includes two earphones with charging station, a charging cable (USB-C) and 3 earphone sizes (small, medium and large). Last but not least, there is an instruction manual with detailed pictures showing how to pair and use the headphones. β’ Setup was fairly easy and similar to any other Bluetooth device. Press the circle at the bottom of the charging station for 5 seconds and open the charging station. There is a light that will illuminate for a moment and should be ready to be paired with your device. β’ I've set up my headphones to pair with both the Surface Pro 7 and my Pixel phone. Both worked without issues and were able to detect "Surface Headphones" and pairing. Note. During this process, the headphones must remain in the charging station. Otherwise the pairing will not work. β’ After you set up the headphones, you can use the Surface Audio application to control the headphones' settings. The app shows equalizer settings that you can choose from presets like Flat, Classic, Jazz, Pop & Rock. You can also customize and save your own preset. β’ Unlike traditional earphones available in the market, these earphones have some touch gestures for left and right earphone. Note. Both earbuds must be properly held on the charging station. When held in the other direction, the charging station will show a red light as an indicator. Final Thoughts: Overall, these in-ear headphones have great sound quality and are portable and compact. However, as these are first-gen headphones, they need some work. Pros: β’ Cool and stylish design with portable charging station β’ Excellent sound quality and exceptional battery life β’ Good Bluetooth connectivity. β’ Good touch sensitivity, but with its own issues (see my cons) Cons: β’ No battery indicator on top of the cradle. You have to open the lid to see if it's charging or not. It would be a lot easier if there was some sort of display with a light as an indicator. β’ The earphones have to be put in the ear and twisted/turned towards the ear, which sometimes causes ear pain. β’ When the lid is open, the Bluetooth connection is still activated even if the earbuds are in the charging case. You must close the lid to close the Bluetooth connection. β’ No touch control setting for left/right ear switching. For example, I want to put the volume up/down controls on the left ear, not the right earbud. β’ Very minimal settings in the "Surface Audio" application. Nothing special to customize anything in the app. β’ When adjusting the headphones, they continue to send a signal to wake up the digital assistant, which is not very good. While you're listening to songs, a double-tap will pause the music, and if you're trying to adjust the earcup to your ears at the same time, the digital assistant will open. β’ For some reason, my left earphone sometimes falls off. Have tried switching to other sizes and have a similar problem. Not sure if it was due to my ear shape and the fact that the buds don't plug in properly. While I liked these headphones the bottom line is if you want to try something new these are great headphones as they are unique in shape. Otherwise nothing special as these are 1st generation headphones that still need improvement. I also downgraded my rating by another star due to ear problems and my left earbud not fitting properly.
