This is my "Day Off" lamp. I use a different tripod as I mainly use it outdoors for my off-camera flash. I also have a diffuser. Maybe you could do without it. However, it basically does the same thing as a cosmetic case with it. You could probably take the lid off the little pot and make your own, but I like to "look" professional. Without the diffuser cup I would definitely use a diffuser on my flash to avoid overheating. This should be activated instead of an option. Didn't bother with the included stand. I like the taller and wider stand. It's probably great for indoor use, but a little wind can knock it over. I usually use cheetah style coasters (10ft) which open and close automatically so I don't trip over my feet while walking, and also great at a wedding or event when you're pushing through the crowd. The build quality is EXCELLENT. much higher than other brolly softboxes etc. Very professional quality. I'll probably get another one (stick with the larger size) and the stripper box is also on my list. I've seen a lot of great recordings made with this box and strip box.
