If you understand their purpose, they work great.

If you know what you're doing, they work. I used them to connect two different LANs to a remote guest house where I only had a usable CAT5 as the second line was damaged during the initial pre-wiring by another company. The second network could not run on the same network/LAN as the main network. The VLAN switch is not working due to broadcast traffic on the secondary LAN.

Pros

This adapter differs from a network router or network switch without IP address assignment.
