Review on Renogy Voyager 20A Waterproof Solar Charge Controller | 20 Amp | 12/24V Auto by Reed Nuttbrock

This one actually works as advertised

I've tried several solar charge controllers and they didn't live up to expectations. I use a 12V electric fence charger with a lead-acid battery (small tractor). My calculations showed that even in average sunlight for my area, my 20W solar panel should keep the battery charged, but I ended up having to bring the battery to charge at least twice a week to keep it charged. then I switch to this charge controller. I used it for 2 weeks with the same solar panel and battery as before and it kept the battery perfectly charged and after a full charge it keeps a battery voltage of 13.8V (exactly). If the battery dies overnight, this controller will start a charging cycle as soon as the sun hits the panel the next morning. It is waterproof, easy to install and all parameters are clearly visible on the display. I didn't install a temperature sensor because I use an SEL type battery and the temperature is usually not as critical as with lithium batteries. It works and I recommend it. Update: It's been running non-stop for a month now and I've had a lot of cloudy and partly cloudy days, but this charge controller keeps the battery charged and the sentinel fully functional. I haven't had to take the battery to the store to charge it since I installed this charge controller. It's really nice to be able to drive up to the corner post and instantly see the solar panel output voltage, actual charge current and battery voltage without opening the battery door or using a multimeter. Excellent unit. I am very happy with it.
