Very easy to hook up and program the Arduino UNO! Unfortunately my first strip broke but I got another one for free and the customer support was fantastic. The recommended power supply works, but I would recommend a higher maximum current supply (DO NOT apply more than 5V to the strip). I highly recommend the waterproof band. The lights are smooth coated, more durable and of course waterproof. If you're interested in the details I've got them below: I bought a black waterproof strip and the recommended 5V 15A power supply so I could hook it up to an Arduino UNO and create patterns and lighting around my desk can. Hooking it up was easy, no soldering was required, colors are vibrant and the strip is responsive and stable. However, within an hour my strip stopped working, so I contacted support. Their replies were friendly, understanding and prompt and over the next week they helped me resolve my issues by checking my wiring and code until finally giving me a full refund leaving me with my broken strip. I've since bought waterproof tape and haven't had any problems. The recommended power supply (5V 15A) is sufficient to drive all LEDs at maximum brightness, but only for colors. White light requires more energy than colored light, which is why flickering and reddening occur at higher brightness levels. I only use colors so it doesn't really matter, but it's a shame I can't use its full potential. A 5V 18A power supply should be sufficient to operate the tape, even white at maximum brightness. If you're really bothered by these issues, it's possible to power the strip on both sides, which solves the problem in many ways. If you want to do it the same way I've attached the schematic. You need to download the Arduino IDE and the FastLED library. You need to comment out the default setting in setup(), comment out the WS2812B setting in setup() and probably switch RGB to GRB in that line of code. Note that you may need to change the DATA_PIN in your code to 3 (or whatever pin you use) and you can isolate power from the Arduino by connecting one of the red wires to Vin (not shown in the schematic) . . You may need to add a 220 ohm or 470 ohm resistor between the data pin and the green wire to reduce noise. Most other information can be found via Google.
