I've been living with a broken key for almost a year now. It was riddled with scratches, the button cover had been ripped off to reveal the circuit board, and the screws in the battery compartment had been stripped to the point where the battery couldn't be replaced, so I had to use a physical key to open the door with a caveman. It only took me about 15 minutes to disassemble my old key and move the circuit board. DO NOT FORGET TO TRANSFER THE SMALL BLACK CHIP TO THE HEAD OR THE KEY WILL NOT START THE CAR IN THE SOCKET. Now I can live again and lend my car to my friends without deep shame.
