My keys look like new again!

later To disassemble the original key, you need to disassemble the glued parts. Once you've done that, you can drop off your components here and your car key will look like new. Note that there is no silver Toyota logo on the back. Because of this, people might think you don't have a smart key, so let them know or just use your old support.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!

But works. good for anti-theft device

I was glad to get this to upgrade my Prius key fob as the panic button fell off my original and the existing key fitted perfectly. However, the back cover doesn't snap into place like my original so the back battery cover just slides out of the actual fob so you could lose the fob. Luckily the original lockable battery plate fits and I just used the old back cover.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Helped our key fob last longer

Worked well to replace the broken casing of our old key. We had to google how to disassemble the old case. And that case didn't have any screws for the battery cover, and the old screws from the old case didn't fit. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars, we assembled it and everything works, but there are no screws holding the battery cover like in the old case.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Doubtful

Broken back panel latch, done

I was able to move the battery, circuit board and chip slightly, but the last piece, the latch on the back panel, won't stay on. I think there's just a piece of plastic holding it shut and the whole thing broke off. Not worth the hassle of sending it back, but that was my original reason for getting a new one. $12 down the drain - a piece of duct tape I guess. It does everything else, so you just have to be careful not to drop it and put it in a slot.

Do it yourself and save!

I saved over $600 to replace my two keys on my 2008 Prius. I went to YouTube for the instructions as they weren't included. I kept the original key and used a screwdriver and letter opener to open the case. I ordered two units. One was missing the metal part at the top, but I just used the original from my old key. My keys were almost 10 years old and now look like new. To remove the battery cover, the case is pushed open from the back, then take a small screwdriver to open the door, and the…

$140 saved and self respect

I've been living with a broken key for almost a year now. It was riddled with scratches, the button cover had been ripped off to reveal the circuit board, and the screws in the battery compartment had been stripped to the point where the battery couldn't be replaced, so I had to use a physical key to open the door with a caveman. It only took me about 15 minutes to disassemble my old key and move the circuit board. DO NOT FORGET TO TRANSFER THE SMALL BLACK CHIP TO THE HEAD OR THE KEY WILL NOT…

Part of my saga of buying and repairing a 2008 Prius

So I got this used Prius with the driver's mirror dangling to the side and a key fob taped over the 3 buttons on a tiny circuit board. Of course, there is no writing on the tape and the car is new to me, so I often fiddle with which button to press. And SO I end up buying a new key fob case with actual working buttons and transplanting the circuit board from my block of tape into a new shiny plastic case without incident. All I need is a fairly small Phillips screwdriver, maybe #1 And now it…

Make your keychain look like new

I was a little nervous opening up my old keychains but I think this is the way to go. I wanted to replace the keyfob housings because the red cap came off the panic button on both of my original keyfobs. There is a guide on YouTube on how to disassemble the original - basically you stick a knife in the seam between the two halves and cut along the blue line. I think I should glue the new one back in place, but for now the snapping of the two halves seems tight (probably until I drop it). I…
