Cable Matters is generally a quality brand so I don't want to criticize them too much. This cable is not well constructed. In particular, it doesn't snap securely into the slot on my LaCie external hard drive or laptop. Somewhere the plugs on the cable are a bit short. Maybe it's the rubber coating around the plugs or maybe the length of the teeth on the plugs, I don't know, but something is wrong. When using a cable, I constantly made sure the connectors were fully inserted into the devices (because the cable often slipped out when the computer or drive was moved). I know the Anker cable I replaced this with is perfect. The 6-inch cable that came with the external drive also works fine, so it's not the drive or the computer. The cable works, just don't move anything.
