Review on πŸ”§ Chrome Delta RP50587 Small Single Handle Valve Cartridge for Improved SEO by Aaron Bannister

Revainrating 4 out of 5

After 5 minutes of effort, the faucet works like new.

We purchased a 3 year old (3) Delta kitchen sink faucet from a large store that has not worked properly for the last year and a half. It squeaked more and more, was difficult to move, and actually only had two (2) water temperatures - too hot or too cold. The complaints eventually got so loud that I had to either replace it or try to fix it. While I wasn't sure if replacing the cartridge would fix the problem, I ordered and installed these in hopes that I could avoid spending stupid money on a complete faucet replacement. I am very happy to report that after 5 minutes of effort, the faucet is working like new. The process is easy and the only tool I needed was a correctly sized hex wrench. Here is the process: 1. IMPORTANT - Turn off the water in the faucet (we had clog in the cupboard under the sink)2. Remove the hot/cold water indicator knob from the faucet handle (we have a handle)3. Using the appropriate size hex wrench, loosen the grub screw that secures the handle (the bolt is hidden under the hot/cold water indicator knob on the handle) and remove the handle4. Unscrew the metal cap covering the old cartridge and remove it (no tools needed, I just grabbed the cap and twisted). Hats off, if necessary, take a picture of the old cartridge with your phone to make sure the new cartridge is installed correctly. Otherwise, note how the old one was oriented in its hole5. Pull out the old cartridge with its metal rod (it's tight and has to wobble a bit when you pull it)6. Insert the new cartridge, making sure it is oriented the same as the old one in the opening7. Replace the cap covering the cartridge (make sure you screw it on firmly)8. Reattach the handle9. Turn the water back on. Test it by turning on the water with the handle, make sure there is hot and cold water and make sure there are no leaks10. If everything is ok, reinsert the set screw to hold the handle in place and push the hot/cold indicator back into the handle to cover the set screw. That's all!
