The design is almost exactly the same as the fine mesh Shires fly mask, close enough that I suspect one brand copied the other . But I like Shires better for several reasons. 1) The Shire is slightly larger - this one is barely wide enough over the muzzle to not get in the way of my horse's eyes, I would have liked a little more room. 2) The additional fleece on the nose and eye darts. In fact, it seems to me that Shires has too much hair (on the eyebrows), but this one has even more. Hot and itchy. 3) In general, the materials of this fly mask do not appear to be of the same high quality as with Shires. 4) My horse takes off this fly mask more often. Not sure if she's rubbing it more because it's itchy, the fit isn't that great, the velcro isn't that strong, or all of the above. I bought this fly mask because of the color but I regret the purchase.
