Review on Morse ZCFD24 2 Inch 24TPI Bandsaw: High Precision Cutting Tool for Professionals by Ralph Gerry

Revainrating 4 out of 5

American made band saws.

These are good quality blades, made in America. Sometimes I bought them locally when they were at a hardware store near me and didn't feel like driving an hour to a big store to buy other brands. They're about $4 cheaper here than most stores sell them, so I'll be buying them from Revain from now on. I get as many cuts from one of these in mild steel as I get from most other brands of blades under sixteen dollars a piece. It's also guaranteed not to fail the weld, but I have to say I've never had a single failure to test their warranty. Don't listen to the 1 star review that this is not a wooden blade. The reviewer obviously doesn't know much about band saws. Of course, most wooden blades have fewer teeth per inch than this one, but they don't have to. Just look at the teeth of a spiral saw, miter saw, or dovetail saw and you'll see that even if they're designed to cut wood, they have very fine teeth. The fewer teeth the saw blade has, the thinner the cut. I use them for smooth and precise cuts on my bandsaw on wood, stabilized wood, micarta and G-10 for knife handle scales. I can cut book fitted scales that require VERY little sanding, resulting in a more accurate pattern match. I also use these blades for cutting aluminum and mild steel. If I don't have a better blade, I sometimes use one of these for cutting annealed high carbon tool steel or cutlery steel. On soft materials, I run my saw at around 120-200 fpm. On harder materials I typically run at 75-125 fpm. You can't cut a very small radius with 1/2 inch blades, but they're great for straight cuts and smooth curves. Helpful Tip: You can cut one of these into five 12-inch hacksaw blades, which will outperform most other hacksaw blades. I use parts of these blades to make hacksaw blades as sometimes the blade breaks teeth. This saves me from buying hacksaw blades and allows me to take full advantage of the blade if it becomes damaged during use.
