Review on πŸ’» USBGear 7-Port USB 3.0 Charging & SuperSpeed Mountable Data Hub by Matt Charlton

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Well I was happy. suitable for computer accessories and peripherals

Need something to install. And the daisy chain connected the two together and works with my 3 external drives to my iMac. Well, that's how it was. I had one connected to an iMac which was connected to my drives. Yesterday I lost one of the hard drives. No matter what I did, Mac didn't see it. Rebooted hoping to get it back and when the system worked I lost another drive. I connected the two "missing" drives to a second hub, which is daisy-chained to the first. My Mac saw her immediately. Right now I have a backup on an external Time Machine (only one is visible on the main hub) and when it's done I'll cycle the hub and see if the Mac can see it again. If not, does it make sense that I could actually lose ports on a powered USB hub? I'll update with what I find out. I had 3 external drives connected to this hub. As well as a second identical daisy-chained hub. 1 of the drives will be shut down primarily. I restarted my Mac. When he came back the 2nd of 3 CDs was not available. I disconnected and reconnected the same drive in the same hub. There is no joy. I connected both drives to a chained hub and it worked. I plugged them back into the main line and I'm still not happy. It wasn't until, as another reviewer said, I cycled the hub on and off that the 3 reverted to the original hub. I've had this hub since mid-July and it's always on and connected. Just today I had problems. I'm out of my return window to Revane. I'll take a look at the hub and see if the problem comes back. If so, then I will contact the manufacturer. The hub, when it works, is perfect for my needs. When. Like all YMMVs.
